Executive engineer G V Rao terminated for not following tendering process
Navi Mumbai: Municipal commissioner N Ramaswami on Monday terminated the services of executive engineer G V Rao who was accused of misconduct and initiating unnecessary development work without following the tendering process.
A departmental enquiry was initiated two years ago against Rao, who was holding charge of the electricity department.
The complaint against Rao was raised by deputy mayor Avinash Lad on August 17, 2015. The departmental inquiry was initiated during the tenure of former civic chief Tukaram Mundhe.
“The officer has been found guilty of all the charges and therefore his service is being terminated without affecting his chances for seeking job elsewhere. This should be a wake-up call for officials failing to do their duties,” Ramaswami said. The termination came through after the Urban Development department rescinded general body’s resolution to reject the dismissal of the officer. —Sameera Kapoor Munshi
